The parameters of Sony's new generation mid-range model Xperia 10 VII have reportedly been revealed by multiple sources. The new phone inherits the classic design language, but the scope of the processor upgrade has caused controversy.
According to Japanese media Smartphone Digest, the Xperia 10 VII will continue to adopt a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen, but it has not been confirmed whether it will support the previously rumored 120Hz refresh rate. It is noteworthy that the phone maintains the iconic 21:9 "fish screen" ratio. This is different from the flagship model Xperia 1 VII, which is rumored to use a 19.5:9 screen. The side of the body will still be equipped with a separate shutter button, and the back cover may still be made of frosted glass.
The biggest change in the new phone is that the processor has been upgraded from Snapdragon 6 Gen1 to Gen4, but the Notebookbench test shows that the CPU performance has only improved by 10% to 15%, and the GPU performance has not yet been announced. The leak points out that the chip uses TSMC's 4nm process. Although the naming range is wide, it is actually a small iterative upgrade. In addition, the new phone maintains the combination of 8GB memory + 5000mAh battery, and the specifications of fast charging have not been revealed.
The main camera of the Xperia 10 VII has been upgraded from 48 million pixels to 50 million pixels. The sensor model may be a new product unique to Sony, and the secondary camera maintains an 8 megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The telephoto lens that was not present in the predecessor model has not yet appeared, and the photography function is still centered on shooting basic scenes.
Sony has not yet announced the release date of the Xperia 10 VII. Combined with the rhythm of the previous model, the new phone may be announced in May 2025 and form a dual product line with the Xperia 1 VII.
