During a closed-door discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference, Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticized the inefficiencies of the U.S. government and proposed replacing some civil service functions with artificial intelligence, attendees said.
Musk spoke at length with investor Michael Milken, who also discussed the latest progress of Neuralink, the brain-computer interface company he founded, and SpaceX, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Musk's Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) aims to reduce the federal government workforce, trim spending and eliminate agencies, including the U.S. Agency for International Development.
The world's richest man recently said work on DOGE is nearly complete and that he will focus more on running Tesla from May.
